The first part of the process consists in collecting information on the general background of the First World War (WWI).  You should concentrate on the European part of the war.  You should also have a look at the material on your aspect of the war.

In this part of the exercise you will all be working together.  It is important that you all get a feel of the background - where, when, why and so on.

You should collect enough information to be able to answer the questions on the check sheet.  Of course your background article will not just be a series of questions and answers - and you may not use all the information - but you should be able to answer the questions.
